Crohn’s disease, which was up until recently considered a rare condition is becoming more frequent, and it is affecting more people every year especially in more developed countries. The disease is, in majority of cases, diagnosed before the age of forty, but there is no age limit, and it can affect individuals no matter what age they are. Unfortunately there is no cure for this condition, best that one who suffers from this illness can hope for is to control the symptoms, and it seems that there is a treatment that can do just that.
This condition is an inflammatory disorder which in most cases affects final section of the small intestine known as ileum, but ileum is not the only one to be targeted by this disease and it can hit any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn’s disease is accompanied with numerous symptoms, some of which include diarrhea, stomach pain and spasms, weight loss and fever. In the USA there is around 500,000 individuals who suffer from this condition, and in Europe there are around 35 per individuals 100,000 affected. The exact cause for this illness is unknown, but there are some studies who seem to suggest that it is caused by a combination of the immunological system disorders and the environment.
